The Dr. John D. Blair Scholarship was established in 1973 to honor Dr. Blair in recognition of his 25 years of service as our senior pastor and a total of 32 years of service to the Oakhurst Church. He was senior pastor from 1935 to 1946 and 1959 to 1973 and parish visitor from 1973 to 1981.
Scholarships are open to all persons who are members of the church and are based on commitment and service to the church, academic record and financial need. Over 50 years, scholarships have been awarded to over 100 members.
The scholarship fund is supported entirely by donations during the December communion offering and at any time during the year in memory or honor of someone. The generosity of the congregation has enabled us to increase the amount of the scholarship to $2500.
This is a ministry unique to the Oakhurst Church. We look forward to continued support from the congregation which will enable us to continue to award scholarships to deserving candidates.
